Google Business Listing for Consultants, No Storefront or Business Address, Find Out How.

One of the biggest questions I get when interacting with Consultants is the frustration of wanting to list their business on google but NOT having their address, usually a home address, disclosed online. I too deliver services to my "business storefront" clients or at meeting spaces. They do not come to my home.

Just the basics to getting your Google Business Listing...

CLICK "I DELIVER"

Okay savvy tech users (yes, you my reader, you got this far... that means you are savvy enuf to get this listing done) Go ahead and verify your business listing, enter your home address and click the "I deliver..." box at the bottom. Yup that's it.

ADD A BUSINESS DECRIPTION

Take the time to add your business description. And use keywords that you think clients will use when searching for your business. This is an important steps for SEO and for a professional online presence. We want clients to find you and your services, so having a Clear description of what you do will be effective. This copy is different from a sales brochure where simple is better then clever.

Next Steps

As you grow your business.

As you grow your business you should go in an update your listing. New business hours, update it. New Website, update it. Adding a physical location, clearly update it.

UPDATE YOUR BUSINESS LISTING

Clients can write reviews an get your contact info on the listing, so make an annual checklist for yourself (Chicagoians: during the slow winter months perhaps) and update your listings, mail client thank you notes, check out reviews (and respond! more often then annually) and take a moment to blog about your experience with google biz, a new product or post that client testimonial you are using. It is good for SEO, and good for Business.

LOCAL LISTINGS

Local Listings are another big component to running a business effectively. If you sub contract and have vendors partnering with you, perhaps they have referenced your business name in a listing on another site like 411.com, manta.com or angieslist.com. Instead of manually entering over 50+ sites, you can instead do a local listing clean up. Need help, call me so we can partner on this

Happy Business Listings!
